Update on our Response to COVID, Back to School and Illness in the Community

Dear Patients and Families,

As we are all aware, COVID-19 cases have increased dramatically.  With the arrival of the Delta variant, we are seeing many pediatric age patients being diagnosed with COVID-19.

At the same time that COVID illness is emerging, children are preparing to go back to school.  As a result of the ongoing COVID-19 pandemic, many children have fallen behind on their well child checkups and required immunizations.   Many parents were reluctant to bring their children in for well child checkups over the past 18 months since the pandemic began.

Accordingly, there has been unusually high demand for well child checkups and sick visits over this summer.  At Roswell Pediatrics, we pride ourselves on being available to our patients and accommodate your needs in a very timely manner.  We regret that due to the unusually high demand for visits, school forms, vaccines, COVID vaccines, COVID tests, prescription refills, etc., the excellent customer service that you have come to know and expect may not be to the level that we would like.  Patients are having to wait longer to obtain an appointment, school forms that generally take 24-48 hours are now taking up to a week to be completed.  You may be experiencing longer than usual wait time for our phone triage department or a visit with your healthcare provider.

What are we doing about these challenges?  We are hiring additional staffing, our providers and staff are working through their lunch break to see sick patients, providers are scheduling telemedicine visits for patients on their days off.  We have temporarily disabled our LIVE triage nurse line due to high volume. Hold times and call back times from our triage staff exceeded our appropriate expectation.  Accordingly, temporarily we will have all calls answered in the order they are received and a patient care representative will have a member of our triage team call you back.  We are adding weekend COVID vaccine clinics to help with the demand and continue to monitor the need for COVID vaccine clinics, COVID testing, etc.

We are hiring additional patient care representatives and medical assistants for all locations.  If you are interested in hearing more about these positions, please call our office and speak with a supervisor.

We wanted to take this opportunity to thank you for your patience and understanding as we continue to navigate through the unprecedented obstacles that the COVID-19 pandemic continues to present us.  Our goal remains to provide your child with excellent health care in a safe, friendly, caring, timely manner.

Sincerely,

The Providers and Staff of Roswell Pediatric Center
