In older children,
the most common problem related to nutrition is obesity. The goal of helping
your child who is overweight requires a combination of lifestyle and dietary
changes. These include routine exercise, limiting television and computer
playing time, restricting high calorie snacks, and developing healthy
eating habits. Frequently these changes need to involve the whole family
in order to be successful.
Children's
Healthcare of Atlanta has developed a program called FIT KIDS which addresses
these issues in our community. They have an eight week program (1 evening
per week) that costs $150 (scholarships are available). For more information
on this program call (404)250-kids then press "4" and then "1".
