Car Seats & Seatbelts
The proper use of car seats and seat belts will help to keep our children safe. It is extremely important to read the instructions and features of your child's car seat. We recommend the following guidelines:
- All infants less than one year should be rear facing.
- All toddlers/preschoolers who are at least 12 months old AND at least 20 lbs may be turned front facing, though it is best to keep them rear facing as long as possible.
- School aged children who have outgrown their forward facing car seat may switch to a booster seat.
- The booster seat should be used until the adult seat belt fits correctly, which usually occurs once your child's height is 4'9" and is between 8-12 years of age.
- Children who have outgrown their booster seats should use the lap and shoulder belt in the back seat.
- Children should not sit in the front passenger seat until they are at least 13 years old.
